Wasatch Backcountry Rescue

Schools/Seminars

Dear Avalanche Rescue Dog Professionals,

We are currently accepting applications for Wasatch Backcountry Rescue Avalanche Dog Seminar. The school will be held in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah. The field and classroom sessions will be held at the Alta and Snowbird ski resorts. We will be concentrating on fieldwork this year with lectures predominantly during the evening hours. The instructing will represent some of the most experienced avalanche rescue personnel in North America.

In the past, we have had many suggestions submitted from course participants. The two most popular were smaller students - instrutor ratios for field sessions, and hosting the course earlier in the season. We will have instructors from Canada, as well as WBR instructors on site each day. This year we would like to finish our week by flying each rescue dog team into the back country via helicopter, then test the team on a level A site.

In order to assure quality field sessions we have gone to the application process. We will limit the school to 20 participants, they will be housed at the Alta Peruvian Lodge. Dogs will be allowed in the rooms. Meals will be included. Please complete the folowing application and return it by December 1st. All applicants will be notified of acceptance. If you have any questions please contact Dean Cardinale (801) 933-2156, or email using the Contact Us Form. Total Registration fee (includes room and board) is $ 800.00.
Dogs should have identification vests and Please no dogs in heat.
Thank you
